Pep Boys offers a ‘contactless’ drop-off / pick-up option for automotive services

PHILADELPHIA – Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack has started offering a ‘contactless drop-off and pick-up’ process at its stores nationwide for pre-scheduled tire and auto services as part of the measures it is taking to deal with the COVID -19 pandemic.
The dealership, which is part of Icahn Automotive LLC, has not adjusted general hours of operation, but asks customers to call their local store before visiting because local curfews or limits on people who can be served could affect the store’s ability to accommodate customers.
Technicians receive gloves, seat and steering wheel covers, and floor mats for the vehicles they work on.
Pep Boys announced the changes in letter posted on its site and signed by Brian Kaner and Chris Cox, CEOs of Pep Boys Service and Parts, respectively.
Pep Boys operates 964 stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
In addition, the chain offers curbside pickup, where permitted, for parts orders placed online, Pep Boys said.
Regarding open stores, Pep Boys said that while auto service / repair businesses have been deemed essential, national guidelines continue to evolve rapidly and each state, and in some cases individual cities, have requirements. unique that he “works hard to meet.”
Additionally, Pep Boys said all of its stores and distribution centers have implemented improved cleaning and sanitizing practices, while practicing social distancing; employees have been advised not to come to work if they feel ill; and head office staff work remotely.
