Rapido Launches Auto Services in 14 Indian Cities, Auto News, ET Auto
New Delhi: Bike-taxi service provider Rapido on Thursday launched auto services in 14 cities in 10 states.
According to the company, the service will allow commuters to reserve cars for their daily trips from the comfort and security of their homes.
Rapido has stated that it wants to standardize the pricing of services offered to motorists and customers.
“Cars have become a preferred way of getting around after the COVID-19 pandemic after bicycle taxis. Although the auto service industry is very penetrated, it only holds 5% of its existing online market, ”Aravind Sanka, co-founder, Rapido, said in a statement.
The service will be available at metered cost with a nominal additional convenience charge.
The company plans to expand auto services to 50 cities in India by the end of 2020.
This is the first phase of the launch and Rapido said it has already onboarded 20,000 car captains (pilot-partners) to date.
It plans to embark over half a million over the next six months and interested motorists can embark on their own by downloading the Rapido Captain app or calling the Rapido helpline.
Each Rapido car will be powered by Rapido’s GPS technology, ensuring access to the continuous demand of customers around it. Thanks to Rapido Auto, users will be able to follow and share their journey in real time with their loved ones.
Rapido Auto, like the Rapido Bike Taxi service, will have an in-app feedback mechanism to enable and ensure a safe and consistent experience for commuters.
The captains will have to disinfect and clean the seats and all areas accessible to customers, publish each trip, as well as the mandatory use of masks during the entire trip by captains and passengers.
The company has also introduced a new support policy in which the company offers free cancellation if captains or customers are maskless.
