Automatic maintenance app, Pomen records over 25,000 downloads
- Boost of the signing of Petronas AutoExpert workshops on the platform
- A ScaleUp Malaysia investor also received a Cradle grant of $ 121.5,000
Being stuck in the middle of the road due to a car breakdown is a nightmare that can put a damper on our hectic daily life. Pomen Autodata Sdn Bhd (Pomen), which claims to be Malaysia’s leading automotive maintenance platform, offers 24/7 support to Malaysian drivers, connecting them to an ecosystem of registered workshops through its app.
The perfect solution to help book or make reservations with the nearest workshop, Pomen introduced the service in 2019. The app takes its name from the Bahasa Malay slang used for âforemanâ. To date, the app has been downloaded over 25,000 times with an average growth of 10% per month.
Although the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting MCO have brought a new set of challenges for businesses, Pomen sees the situation as a stepping stone to further develop its business. âWe found that after the first MCO in March 2020, our app downloads increased by 50%. Many car owners have taken the opportunity to perform services like changing batteries and engine oil at home when the car is not in use. With the POMEN app, they can easily book workshops at their convenience. Convenience is key because during MCO, car owners seem to place both convenience and safety as their top priorities, âsaid Syed Zulhilmi Tuan Sharif, Founder and CEO of Pomen. Pomen Autodata is also a Scaleup Malaysia company from its recently announced second cohort. It received funding of US $ 60,800 (RM250,000).
In another boost to the startup, Pomen’s latest update showcased its collaboration with Petronas Lubricants Marketing Malaysia. This release includes the nine Klang Valley branches of Petronas AutoExpert workshops that are listed in the app’s authorized workshop directory and are available to all POMEN members and users. While all users must register their information to use the app, members must also register their car information. This helps Pomen monitor fraud and unfair pricing.
To date, there are over 600 registered workshops in the app located in Klang Valley, Johor, Penang, as well as other major cities. Among the services offered are vehicle maintenance, battery replacement or jump starting, tire replacement and repair of damage caused by accidents. In addition, the app has features like real-time tracking services and transparent pricing. Users also benefit from a free membership in the application to avoid any incident of fraud by unauthorized workshops.
Pomen received a CIP Ignite (II) grant of US $ 121,500 (RM 500,000) from Cradle and one of the winners of the Petronas FutureTech Accelerator program which was selected under the Silicon Valley Immersion program. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store platform or the Apple App Store or can be viewed directly at https://download.pomenapp.com.
