Digital yuan app is tested by tourism, auto repair and maintenance services

China’s digital currency (DC / EP) electronic payment, also known as the digital yuan, has been extended to more consumer areas, including travel and auto repair and maintenance services.
Tuniu.com, a Chinese online travel agency, has appeared on the subpages of six Chinese state-owned banks for a yuan digital wallet trial app program. Tuhu, a Chinese provider of online and offline car repair and maintenance services, has been included on the Bank of Communications subpage.
The DC / EP has been tested in some selected Chinese cities, including Shenzhen in southern China, Beijing, Suzhou in Jiangsu province in eastern China, and Chengdu in Sichuan province in southwestern China. Some state-owned banks in Shanghai and Changsha, capital of central China’s Hunan Province, began accepting requests from individuals to open digital yuan wallet accounts at the end of last month.
After joining the “white list,” applicants will be asked to download the yuan digital wallet app, according to a Beijing Youth Daily media report.
