Chamber Member of the Week: Auto Repair on the Fast Track
Fast Lane Auto Repair is approaching seven years in business, citing customer service and honesty as the key to their success. The Full-Service Auto Mechanic is the region’s only golden Napa auto repair center and has evolved significantly since its inception.
Owner Tony Lane started the business in 2015 after spending 31 years in the same field at a local dealership. Approaching 40 years in the industry, he said he has built many great relationships with customers by just being honest with them and not trying to “oversell”.
“I had a huge following, and several of them followed me when I ventured out on my own,” he said. “A lot of stores want to sell maintenance and things that cars don’t need; we don’t do that. We treat our customers as we would if they were our family’s car.
When Lane first bought the store in the 2000 block of Triplett Street, there was just him, a few employees and six service areas. After purchasing the land and structure next door and remodeling both buildings, Fast Lane now has a 12 bay facility with a growing workforce.
“We do everything from oil and tire changes to new engines and transmissions,” Lane said. “We have a great group of guys working here; they are really top notch. We even have a waiting list of people who want to work here.
There aren’t many vehicles they won’t work on, and their Napa certification guarantees customers a 3-year, 36,000 mile parts and labor warranty nationwide. They are also a Jasper Engines Preferred Installer, and their current efforts include installing one of these engines in a 1948 Chevrolet truck.
Lane said clients were always thrilled with how quickly he and his team could complete a job, citing that and a pun with his last name as the basis for the company name. He said that on a good day they are able to service over 30 vehicles.
“We try to take the cars out on the same day if possible, and people have learned to trust that,” he said. “The community has been great with us; we have many loyal customers. We also have people who come from as far away as Henderson to have their vehicles serviced.
To be crowned Gold by Napa Auto Parts, stores must maintain a Google ranking above an average of 4.7 at all times and have ASE certified technicians on site.
“Napa goes through a very thorough verification process. It took us about 6 months to complete the process, ”he said. “Our establishment also had to have a certain look; they helped us with the paint colors to make it look like a Napa store.
